Counseling Staff

Michele Keffer
School Counselor
Michele knows what it takes to see students succeed. With 10 years leading the NGHS counseling department she oversees many aspects of the student's high school journey. She works on creating class schedules, offering college and career guidance, as well as general school counseling and guidance. The joy of students succeeding and transitioning into the next chapter of their life is the driving force behind her work. Before being a school counselor she worked in vocational rehabilitation for 15 year. When she is not leading the guidance office and students she spends majority of her time with family.
Nedra Armstrong
Guidance Secretary/Registrar
With 20 years of experience, Nedra ensures that everything is completed on time in the counseling office. Whether that is answering questions or sending transcripts she knows where the important information is and where it needs to go. Outside of the joy of talking with students and working with the other counseling staff she works on a dairy farm, which she has done her whole life. She also makes time to be with her 4 grandkids and be the assistant softball coach at Chuckey-Doak High School.

Tim Shelton
Career Coach for NGHS and NGMS
In his second year as Career Coach for North Greene High School, Tim works with students to discover their interests and goals in high school and after. He works with enrolling students in TN Promise and other dual enrollment grants. He has worked in Greene County Schools for 33 years starting as a teacher at Baileyton Elementary and working his way into administration as Principal at West Greene High School. Throughout that time he has held many different positions and roles within Greene County Schools. When not working with students to develop their passions and interests into career paths he enjoys hunting and fishing.

Makayla Davis
NiswongerCARE Advisor
Recently graduating from college, Makayla was excited when the opportunity arose for her to be able to work with students as they transition from high school to college or any other post-secondary plans. She helps students be on track with completing college applications, FAFSA, and anything else that may need to be done. She enjoys students reaching out to her with questions or for support because she cares for them and wants to see them succeed. You can find Makayla hiking, watching movies or just spending time with family, friends, and pets.
